Media Player Classic WebUI for iPhone/iPod Touch

I have released the first pre-alpha build of my web interface for Media Player Classic on Windows, tailored specifically for iPhone and iPod Touch. The whole thing is built around AJAX and allows you to control basic playback functions in MPC, as well as browse your computer for movies. It's not complete as there's still a lot of functionality that can be added but you should have no problem playing, pausing, stopping, seeking, controlling volume or switching between fullscreen and windowed mode.
You can tap inside the progress bar to jump to a position in the movie, or tap inside the volume bar to change the volume.

How To Use
1. Download Media Player Classic 6.4.9 (and any necessary codecs, of course).
2. Download my web interface and unzip it somewhere (doesn't matter where, as long as it's not in your way).
3. In the Options menu find the 'Web Interface'. In it, enable 'Listen on port', disable 'Allow access from localhost only', and enable 'Serve pages from'. You can change the port it listens on but that's optional (default is 13579). Click the 'Browse' button and find the 'webroot' directory that you extracted from my zip file. Then click 'OK'.
4. Open Safari on your iPhone or iPod Touch and go to http://yourpc:13579/ replacing yourpc with the name or IP address of the computer that's running MPC.

Minor update to the BCD2000 MIDI driver

I just cleaned up the code for the BCD2000 MIDI driver and greatly simplified the code that handles the processing of MIDI packets.
BCD2000, Traktor, and the Mac revisited

My new BCD2000 MIDI driver should make it a lot easier to set up the BCD2000 with Traktor on your Mac. You can forget the old tutorial, because here's a new one that's a lot simpler.

Step One: Install the experimental BCD2000 driver
The new driver fixes the jog wheel by changing the range to 0 - 127. You'll need the new driver for this tutorial to work, so head over to the BCD2000 Download page and hit the link for the new experimental driver. Close all MIDI applications. Unzip the driver and double click the BCD2000 package. Then just follow the onscreen instructions.

Step Two: Configure Traktor
Open your Traktor preferences and under Hotkey & MIDI Setup > MIDI Interfaces enable the Behringer BCD2000 device (there should be an X in the left column). You can disable the IAC device here if it's still enabled from the previous driver.
Download the latest MIDI mapping from the BCD2000 Download page. In the Traktor preferences, under Hotkey & MIDI Setup > MIDI Setup click 'Load' and select the .tks file you just downloaded.

Step Three: There is no step three
That's it :) Enjoy and have fun.

BCD2000 + Traktor - MIDI Rules

I've uploaded a new experimental MIDI driver to the BCD2000 Download page that incorporates a jogwheel fix. This should make it possible to use the BCD2000 with Traktor, without the help of MIDI Rules (or Mandolane). I have included a simple .tks file to use in Traktor. So far the .tks supports the basic stuff and LEDs for the EQ buttons, but that's about it. If anyone manages to extend the functionality of the .tks please feel free to share it with the rest of us.

Update: I just finished uploading a more extensive version of the Traktor mapping file. This one re-introduces a number of features from the MIDI Rules ruleset. Most buttons are mapped one-to-one to Traktor features, however there are some exceptions.

Browser
You can browse your library by holding down the 'Phones Split/Master Out' button and using the jogwheels to browse the tree (left) or the list (right). Use the left 'Search' buttons to collapse/expand the tree, or the right 'Search' buttons to load the selected track to deck A or B.

Sync
Sync slave now maps to sync slave, instead of sync trigger. Both 'Back To Top' buttons are used as modifiers now. The left BTT button turns the Sync Slave button in a trigger for Sync Master. The right BTT button turns the Sync Slave button in a trigger for Sync. The left button also turns the Scratch button in a Tempo reset trigger.
I realize this is very complex and I could definitely use some ideas for improvements.

BCD2000 Driver FAQ

I though it might be a good idea to post a FAQ here, since I'm often getting the same questions over and over. This should save you from having to read through all the comments :)

Q. The BCD2000 sometimes freezes after using the sliders. Is this a driver bug?
A. Unfortunately this is a hardware bug and I have not been able to find a software workaround. This seems to depend on your hardware setup. For example, I've found that my old PowerMac G4 constantly shows this behaviour, whereas I've only seen it once on my MacBook Pro. This is probably partially the reason why Behringer decided to give up on Mac drivers, and just released a revised unit (the BCD3000).
Things you can try to reduce the problem; try different a different USB port, don't use a USB hub.

Q. How do I use the audio output/inputs on the BCD2000?
A. For now, you can't. It's not supported by the driver and I'm struggling to find enough time (and willpower, I must admit) to work on it.

Q. How do I use the jogwheels in Traktor? It only moves in one direction.
A. Use the new drivers (with jogwheel fix), or alternatively follow the directions in the "BCD2000, Traktor, and the Mac." post.

You can download it here (6.5MB). Source code will follow soon.

Update: It appears I left a rather embarrassing bug which would prevent the file dialog from appearing. A new release has been uploaded which should fix the problem. Thanks to Minotronic for pointing this out.

As promised, here's how to set up the BCD2000 for Traktor on MacOS X. Here's what you'll need:
- BCD2000 Driver
- Cycokraut's Traktor mapping files (pick any of the BCD2000-Traktor3* files, I prefer this one).
- MIDI Rules for Mac
- Plumstone (for PPC) or Mandolane (for Intel)

Step One: Close all MIDI applications. Install the BCD2000 driver per the instructions on the download page. Plug in and power up your BCD2000. It should now appear under "MIDI Devices" in the MIDI Setup utility that comes with MacOS X.
If it doesn't, something's wrong. Double check the driver installation (it should appear under '/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers' ). Try restarting your Mac. If that still doesn't fix it, drop me a note and we'll try to sort it out together.

Step Two: install Mandolane / Plumstone
This is probably the most tedious bit. This adds the MIDI support to Java that Apple forgot to implement. Unzip the package, and copy 'plumstoneserv.jar' for Plumstone, or 'libMandoMidiJNILib.jar' and 'libMandoMidiJNILib.jnilib' to '/Library/Java/Extensions'.

Step Three: enable IAC
Open Audio MIDI Setup in Applications/Utilities, under "MIDI Devices" double-click "IAC Driver". Make sure "Device is online" is checked and click Apply. Close Audio MIDI Setup.

Step Four: configure Traktor
Launch Traktor and open the Preferences. Under Hotkey & MIDI Setup > MIDI Interfaces enable the 'Apple Computer, Inc. IAC Driver Bus'. Make sure the BCD2000 is disabled.
Under Hotkey & MIDI Setup > MIDI Setup click 'Load'. Select the appropriate .tks file from the Traktor mapping files and click Open. Apply changes and leave Traktor open.

Step Five: start MIDI Rules
Launch MIDI Rules.app. Click 'Select' and find the .drl file from the Traktor mapping files and click 'Open'. Select the BCD2000 as your MIDI input. Click the '+' button until you've got two outputs in the list. Select the 'Apple Computer, Inc. IAC Driver Bus' as Output 1, and the BCD2000 as Output 2. Finally, click 'Run'.

At this point you may get a license reminder from Mandolane. If so, simply click 'Yes'. After that, the LEDs on your BCD2000 should all simultaneously light up for a second, and you should be able to control Traktor through your BCD2000. If for some reason it doesn't work, try launching Console.app (in the Utilities folder) and look for clues.

As always, you can find the download link over at the "Links" box on the right.

On other news, I've been working on a GUI for MIDI Rules, which should make setting up Traktor a bit easier. After that's done being polished, I'll release it and write up the HOW-TO for getting Traktor up and running with the BCD2000 on Mac OS X.

Right now, though, I'm being rather intrigued by how audio works on the BCD2000. My pleas for documentation have fallen on deaf ears at Behringer (you'd think they'd be a bit more supportive when you're doing them a favor like this one), so I'm staring at hex dumps from USB Snoop on my Windows machine trying to figure this stuff out.

BCD2000 for MacOS X

First of all welcome to my blog. This is where I'll be keeping you posted on whatever it is I'm working on at the moment, and anything else that comes to mind.

My first subject is Behringer's BCD2000. When it was released about two years ago it was rumored that MacOS X drivers would be released by the end of 2005. Rather than waiting for those to appear (which they probably won't) I decided to have a go myself. The result is quite good, if I say so myself. It works, which is more than I expected.

Currently only MIDI in and output works. Audio does not. That means you can control Traktor the way you would on a Windows computer, but you won't hear anything through the BCD2000's audio ports or record anything trough them. You can still, of course, use other audio outputs, built-in or external, that do work with MacOS X.

Right now the MIDI input and output <strike>are</strike> should be identical to the Windows driver in B-DJ mode. Which means a reasonable amount of pain is implied when trying to configure Traktor for the BCD2000. Basically, the same hack that works for Windows (using MIDI-Rules and a loopback device, in our case Apple's built-in IAC) is also required for Mac. I hope to incorporate similar functionality inside the driver in the future, eliminating the need for the hack. For now, this will have to do. A more detailed guide to setting this up will be posted sometime later this week.

For now, only an Mac Intel build is available. I'll try to get a working PPC build up by next weekend. You can find the latest download link on the right hand side. Also, feel free to comment.
